Sitagliptin 50 + Metformin 500
Sitagliptin + Metformin is an oral antidiabetic combination medicine used to control blood glucose in patients with Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus (T2DM). It is used along with diet and exercise. Components and Mechanism Sitagliptin – A DPP-4 inhibitor. It increases incretin activity, which helps increase insulin release when blood glucose is elevated and decreases glucagon secretion. Metformin – A biguanide. It mainly decreases glucose production by the liver and improves insulin sensitivity.
Helps lower fasting blood glucose. Helps control post-meal blood glucose. Helps reduce HbA1c. Improves overall glycemic control. The combination targets blood glucose through two complementary mechanisms.
* Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus * Used when blood glucose is not adequately controlled with diet and exercise alone. * Can be used alone or in combination with other antidiabetic medicines, depending on the patient's treatment plan. * Not indicated for Type 1 diabetes.

The maximum recommended total daily dose is generally 100 mg sitagliptin + 2000 mg metformin. Common Side Effects Nausea Diarrhea Abdominal discomfort Headache Important: Kidney function should be assessed before and during treatment because metformin can cause serious complications in severe renal impairment.
